The cities of Pompeii and Herculaneum are two of the most famous archaeological sites in the world. Both are Roman city buried by ash of Vesuvius in 79 AD and have returned to the light at the end of 1700 virtually unchanged for centuries. Both are easily reached from Sorrento by the Circumvesuviana train. The train takes about 30 minutes to 40 minutes to get to Pompeii and Herculaneum. Sorrento is an ideal base for your holiday!

By Plane: The nearest international and domestic airport to Sorrento is Naples-Capodichino airport, with connections to Sorrento and private line on request.

 

By Car: Take the A3 Naples-Salerno motorway and take the exit Castellammare. Continue on State Road Sorrento follow the signs. Journey time approximately 1 hour.

 

By Train: From Naples Central Station take the Circumvesuviana towards Sorrento station terminus. Journey time approximately 1 hour with departures every 20-30 min.

 

By Hydrofoil: Daily service with connections from Naples (Beverello) and Capri throughout the year.
